FATHERS DAY FRAUD....

This morning I woke up to breakfast in bed and 'Fathers Day' cards from Jaja and Trudie. Both of them as ever have written some very loving and moving words telling me what a wonderful Dad I am and the whole day is mine with my every wish being their command but I feel like too much of a fraudster to be 'Lording' it up on my 'Special Day' and here's why...

Do we have a 'Lottery Winners' day whereby we set aside a special day in which we honour and celebrate all the lottery winners of the world? I'll answer that straight away by saying of course not! That would be just ridiculous, in fact it would be more appropriate for the lottery winners to pay tribute to the source of their wealth and hopefully resulting lifetime of joy don't you think?

The connection I am making here is that the day Trudie gave birth to Jaja was more precious than any lottery win could be no matter what the size of the jackpot! Every day of his life Jaja says at least once but often more, those still spine tingling words "I love you Dad"...Those words and who he has become is my gift of a lifetime from Trudie so I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to the two of them for making my life complete and I propose that 'Fathers Day' in future should be a time when we celebrate and honour the people who have given us the best thing any man can have in his life...The gift of a child.

We're All In This Together ...

Since my last post where I totally indulged myself with Jaja's BBC TV appearance I have been inundated with requests as to how he coped in his Science GCSE and what was the final result? Well, I shall divulge all but not right now because there is something else I wish to share with you about how wonderful and glorious our children truly are and to prove this point I am going to post a letter I found that Jaja had sent out, independently by way of helping our book Dreams accomplish our dream of making that one million for St Mary's.  So without further ado here goes, prepare to be amazed and dazzled...

                                                                                                        Sunday 12th January 2014

Dear Mr Grant

I almost began by addressing you as ‘Dear Hugh’ sorry, but you seem so approachable.

My name is Jaja Lloyd Thompson and I was born in 1999 to parents who underwent 12 years on IVF treatment to have me and it doesn’t get any better than that, I feel utterly cherished and adored!  Not only did they spend 144 months dreaming of having me but they also went on to lose two businesses and ultimately became bankrupt!  They’re a pretty awesome pair as their ability to stay positive is totally phenomenal!  I am extremely proud of them hence my letter.

Mum and Dad wrote a book about their journey to try and inspire others and they also wished to donate the proceeds to the Hospital who created me.  Pretty cool!  I know they wrote it from the heart and I also know they had never attempted anything quite like this before, they overcame many obstacles finding a publisher as unknown authors but they did, and again I was really proud.

My parents totally adore you, I can’t count how many times I have watched your films over and over and when you took on the tabloids in 2012 they were glued to the TV and were in awe of your strength and resolve.

I know that millions of people watch feel-good ‘chick flicks’ and that the majority of these films are fictional, so I write to you as I believe someone as dynamic as you could create a movie from my mum and dad’s book, (which I hasten to add has some extremely funny as well as poignant moments), and I also believe it would inspire many people to realise that life really is just a journey and that you can stay happy no matter the circumstances, Mum and Dad held it together no matter what.

I have therefore enclosed a copy of their book, please read it, I know it is grammatically incorrect throughout but I just know with your abilities you would be able to sprinkle your magic (Mum's words) and create a blockbuster of a movie which would blow my parents away and would inspire everyone who watched it, it is a true love story and the best bit is, they are still in love!  It would also prove to them that I do actually listen.  You could inject life into it and with your creativity and the use of artistic licence you could spearhead Dreams Do Come True to infinity therefore creating the much needed funding for this worthwhile cause.  I wouldn’t be here without the miracle that is IVF!!  And I’ve gone on to make Deputy Head Boy at my school.  I believe everyone should have the right to be parents if that’s their desire because parents who would put them through what Mum and Dad went through make the world’s best parents – take it from me.

Please help me, I am that picture of the embryo on the book cover and I grew into the 15 year old boy who had the balls and bottle to write to a superstar with utter hope in his heart.  Can you help make my dream of making my parents dream a reality?

Mum and Dad have no idea I have written to you, but if I can pull this off then I will have proved that anything is possible and everything is achievable.

Yours with much gratitude

Jaja L. Thompson

SO SO Worth The Wait!!

So sorry everyone but I seemed to have stolen Lloydie's blog for good so here I am again... he will come back I promise and no I've not locked him away from the computer!!

But I was trawling through my Facebook posts the other day and I came across the attached link to when Jaja (pronounced Jayjay) appeared live on BBC Breakfast News and I am so so proud I felt compelled to post it here as well.

We received the phone call from the Beeb the night before asking if Jaja would be prepared to appear at 7 o'clock the following morning and they would send a car for him.  Needless to say he was delighted and agreed immediately.  Now having appeared on live TV I have to admit to being somewhat dubious but I needn't have been... just judge for yourselves.  Sorry that the quality is poor but I had to film it on his iPhone from our TV (which obviously I'd set to record) so it is a touch grainy but it was the only way I could do it.

And this is the reason our book Dreams Do Come True is so important to us, because I can't even find the words to say the depth of pride we felt as a family as our little boy undertook the immense pressure, I for one was beaming inside and out at his courage, and this was the first time he'd been alone on live TV WOW what a natural.

For those who don't know, it took us 12 years of IVF treatment to have this young man and boy he was worth the wait.  Everyone who desires to be a parent as much as we did deserves the right to be one, he has totally enriched all our lives beyond anything we could have imagined and the love we feel for him is totally immeasurable - HE is our life!

Oops! Hijacking Again ... An Update by Trudie x

Our book Dreams Do Come True was published in September 2011, it's aim... to make a million pounds from the revenue for St Mary's Hospital in gratitude for our wonderful son Jaja and I remember stepping into an unknown world, just as I done many years previous as I entered the unknown world of infertility.  I was very proud that we found the most dynamic Publisher in CGW Publishing and Christopher Greenaway has been invaluable, he is a true gift.  We soon featured in all the local newspapers and some Nationals too.  We appeared on TV shows such as Granada Reports, North West Tonight, Live with Fern Britton, BBC Breakfast News and a host of radio shows too numerous too mention!  Who'd have thought that a couple from Leyland in Lancashire could accomplish that?  But we did, we even had our very own book signing at Waterstones, okay we didn't pull the crowds like Jordan when she had her book signing, but we actually had an official book signing event - my life just went crazy...

We are still aiming for that million and we greet each new day with great hope knowing that one day it will happen.  Here's the picture when we donated the first £1,000 it was a huge day in my life ...

Initially the book was called "From IVF to IVA & Onto Bankruptcy", but we found that Dreams was much more befitting and we love it because we know that Dreams REALLY Do Come True ...

Since the launch of Dreams, Lloyd wrote another book, an eBook called "Together Forever", which was initially titled "Why Women Leave ... Or Stay and Loathe Us", but that was changed to "The Circle of Love" and ended up Together Forever.  I have read it and I obviously adore Lloyd, but I have to say I laughed my way through it though there were some poignant moments and some rather powerful ones.  He based this book having studied me for 30 years!!!

We are now on with the next project, would you believe a football book!  This book was based on an article Lloyd wrote when Bolton Wanderers relocated from Burnden Park to the Reebok Stadium, it was a heart rendering piece which brought a lump to my throat (I did actually cry) so he decided to invite fans from other Clubs that had relocated to write about their feelings, the response so far has been stunning, so much so I now know the utter passion surrounding football.  Initially I wasn't too enthralled with the idea of this project but I am now spellbound and totally excited, so a big well done to Lloydie!

Anyway before Lloyd gets back and catches me in the act of stealing his blog I will bid you all a goodnight, hope you all sleep well and hope you all accomplish your dreams - NEVER STOP DREAMING.

Bless you, love you all
Trudie xx
