WHILE THE CATS AWAY .....

Hello Lovely People, my name's Trudie and I'm the other half of Lloyd and like the title suggests ... while the cats away the mouse will play ... So I decided to hijack his blog mmmm so here goes! ...

Anyone who knows Lloydie (full version would read Lloydieroonypoohs!) would describe him as a real trooper, a happy trooper and a lovable trooper. He is kind and he's generous and he never ever complains about anything EVER no matter the adversity he has endured and I should know, I dragged him through 12 years on IVF treatment! Lloyd would always say "Don't waste one single minute of your precious life feeling sorry for me because I'm fine and dandy like a million dollars", and he just gets on with it with a smile on his face, a song in his heart and even, on occasion, a dance around our kitchen/dining room/lounge/hallway/bedrooms/bathroom/landing etc. on one occasion he actually conga danced over our bed with me in it! Well apparently I was en route!!

As you are no doubt fully aware Lloyd is presently compiling a book to honour all the football stories from the real life fans who have had to live through the excruciatingly harrowing experience of their sacred football stadiums being uprooted and moved to newer, I suppose more efficient, safer grounds - quite a huge task to take on but suffice to say he is doing a magnificent job and he has managed to obtain many stories some very amusing but some are so poignant they bring a tear to the eye. I believe this book will be a beautiful gift to the memories of so many true and loyal fans.

SO HERE'S MY PLEA!!

I have attached Lloyd's own memories of his beloved Bolton Wanderers moving from Burnden Park to the Reebok Stadium and I am asking that you forward it onto anybody at all, please don't preempt whether you believe anyone would be interested or not, just please please forward and let's see how many more stories we can produce between us. So if you're on Facebook then please post, if you're on Twitter then please tweet, if you're on LinkedIn please post ... you get the idea and I know you will all want to help me help him, it will be a fantastic surprise next time he comes on to see that I've been up to my mischievous meddling shenanigans - it's one of the reasons he married me!

About Me

I suppose I could say it's all in the title 'Claptrap from a one armed Black Chap' but if I expect you to follow my blog then I feel that it's only right that I tell you more about myself.

I don't need you to know who I am and where I've been in order to justify or give credibility to the things I say because if something needs to be said I will say it. I have a viewpoint and I'm not afraid to use it as my wife Trudie often points out....There you see, you now know that I am married, 27 years in fact. 12 of those years were spent going through IVF treatment in order to realise our dream of having a baby and that baby is now a handsome young man of 14 who goes by the name of Jaja (pronounced Jay Jay and means 'Gift from God').

We wrote a book about our 12 year struggle with infertility and the financial problems we encountered that culminated in me being made Bankrupt 4 years ago...see there's something else you now know about me! Bankrupt and an author... I suppose you may be wondering what the 'one armed black chap' stuff is all about and maybe you think I'm a bit strange? No? You weren't wondering?....then it's you that's strange!

I was born in this country to Jamaican parents and that's where the black bit comes in. I contracted Polio as a child and that's where the one armed bit came in. I do actually have two whole arms but one of them doesn't really work and is only really useful for filling out the left sleeves of my clothes. I suppose my fingers were useful at school when I needed to count to more than 5 before the invention of calculators but the arm was no help to me as I learned to swim. I just worked extra hard with my legs and good arm to stop myself from swimming around in circles and there you get the first clue as to who and what 'The one armed Black Chap' is all about....

I'm all about getting on with living my life! I don't need or seek any sympathy for anything that has occurred in my life that others may see as being a disadvantage to me! I never look at another person and wish I was in their shoes instead of mine!

People have asked "what was it like being the only black boy in a school of 2000 pupils?" I say brilliant! I was special, everyone knew who I was! "What was it like growing up with a disability?" I say "I don't have a disability but I know what you mean and again it was brilliant, it made me double special!

In later years people have wondered how we survived 27 years in a mixed race marriage and 12 years on IVF but we look at it as a journey that prepared us for the wonderful outcome that was our precious son.

Friends and family alike think I should be bitter and vengeful of the circumstances surrounding my bankruptcy but like I said 'I don't do looking back and lamenting what if or if only because I made the choices that led to the outcome of every area of my life and being a true believer in 'The Law of Attraction' I know that my living reality is of my own making. I am in complete control of my own destiny.

So that's me and mine in a nutshell. I have a lot to say (hence the blog) a lot of it tongue in cheek because I like to look for the good and funny side of everything because I really do believe that everything you can think of has a good side and if you look carefully enough you can always come up with a funny side too...
